Kaveri Pushkaram 2017

The Kaveri Pushkaralu is also called as 'Cauvery Pushkar' in word of English. This Kaveri Pushkaralu were coming once in 12 years. This were celebrating 12 days in the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

Kaveri Pushkaralu 2017 were started in the date of 12th September to 23rd September total 12 days were celebrating these festival. 

Kaveri river is one of the largest river in India it rises on Brahmagiri Hill of the Western Ghats were located in southwestern at Karnataka state, and flows in a southeastern direction for 475 miles through the both states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, and descends to the Eastern Ghats in a series of great waterfalls and finally surrenders in the Bay of Bengal.

Kaveri Pushkar is one of the famous Indian Festival it is completely dedicated to rivers people were worshiping the rivers and praising the lord. in our country totally 12 rivers are their were celebrating the pushkar each year one river were celebrating pushkaralu like that 12 major rivers in a year. Here each river is associated with one zodiac sign as per zodiac signs only this Kaveri Pushkaralu were celebrating.

It has many tributaries namely, Shimsha, the Hemavati River, the Arkavathy River, Honnuhole River, Lakshmana Tirtha River, Kabini River, Bhavani River, the Lokapavani River, the Noyyal River and the Amaravati River. As the river flows in the Deccan Plateau, it forms two islands, Srirangapatna and Shivanasamudra.

Kaveri river also joins the Hogenakal Falls before arriving in the town of Hogenakal and Srirangam in the state of Tamil Nadu. It then meanders in the southern plains and in the Thanjavur district rich, silt-laden river delta is formed before it finally falls into the Bay of Bengal. 

The Kaveri river water is the source of extensive irrigation project and for the generation of hydroelectric power. Dams constructed across the river are Krishna Raja Sagara Dam and Mettur Dam and the Banasura Sagar Dam on the Kabini River, which is the tributary of the Cauvery. This sacrosanct river has been mentioned in Tamil literature. Here huge number of temple and towns are situated in the lower course of the Cauvery River in Tamil Nadu and also Karnataka State.

After sweeping past of the historic rock in Tiruchchirappalli, the Kaveri breaks at Srirangam Island, a major pilgrimage center. There, in eastern state Tamil Nadu, its braided and extensively irrigated deltaic region of about 4,000 sq miles (10,360 square km) begins. Here a dam is called the Grand Anicut was built in the 2nd century at the point where the river divides at two states. A second dam is across the Kollidam River, the Kaveri’s river is northern and larger channel, saved the old system from silting and extended irrigation. Open road steads of Nagapatnam and Karikal are on the seaward side of the delta. The Kaveri’s main tributaries are the Kabani, Amaravati, Noyil, and Bhavani rivers. Most historical of Kaveri River dates back to its origin. 

The Kaveri River is one of the sacred rivers of the country. Kaveri (Cauvery) is among the most sacred rivers of India and though to be the Dakshina Ganga also called as south Ganga. In Hindu Mythology says many of versions about the descent of Kaveri River. Here is the most popular king by the name of Kavera lived in the Brahmagiri hills and prayed to Lord Brahma for a child. He was blessed with a daughter whom he named as Kaveri. She was the water manifestation of the human form. 

The great sage Agastya married her and kept her in his kamandalu or the spouted jug. When a terrible drought trounced the land, Ganesha in the guise of a crow, tipped the kamandalu and out flowed Kaveri. Now a day many of people were worshiping pushakarlu very well in this Kaveri pushkaralu were coming soon this river and here many of Ghats are their in two states of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The two states of some Hindu temples were located nearby kaveri river in those temples were having ghats to worship the river kaveri.
